One of the best ways to experience a culture is through food. It’s not just about consuming tasty food, rather it’s about expanding your taste palette, discovering life-changing dishes, and creating connections. Whether you’re chatting with locals at a restaurant, meeting the chef, or taking a cooking class, food has a way of bringing people together in the most unexpected and meaningful ways.
While studying abroad in Sorrento, I had the chance to explore an incredible range of restaurants, each offering something special. I’ve put together a must must-visit list for day trippers or long weekenders to experience the best food in Sorrento!

O’Murzill
Tucked away in the charming alleyways of Sorrento, this hidden gem introduced me to some of the most flavorful pasta and seafood dishes. Like many of the best food spots I’ve found, this one was a happy accident that my family and I stumbled upon while wandering the narrow streets of Italy. I highly recommend it for its warm hospitality, cozy ambiance, and, of course, the unforgettable food.

Refood Sorrento
After having to cancel my reservation here twice, I was so relieved to finally make it and wow, was it worth the wait. From the fresh tomato and mozzarella to the perfectly salted mussels, and my main dish of lemon tuna risotto, every bite was perfection. I was left in the best kind of food coma. If you’re craving rich, indulgent Italian dishes, this is the place to go.

Fuoro51 Wine Bar
The moment we were handed a digital wine menu with an extensive selection from around the world, we knew we were in for a treat. This cozy hole-in-the-wall spot is a must for wine lovers, offering expertly paired dishes that elevate the experience. Whether you’re here for a relaxing glass or a full meal, Fuoro51 delivers on both flavor and ambiance.

A’Marenna
This sandwich shop is an absolute must-visit. Picture this: crunchy ciabatta bread, freshly shaved deli meat, and perfectly seasoned toppings. Now add in the most energetic, fun-loving owners who make this place feel like a party from the moment you step inside. Their positivity is contagious, and their sandwiches? Next level.

Museo Caruso
A Michelin-starred experience like no other. If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime meal, this is it. While it’s on the pricier side (I’ve only been here with my parents), it’s worth every euro. After my first visit, I insisted on returning, and somehow, the food was even better the second time. The menu showcases unique, seafood dishes that highlight the best of Italian cuisine. Fair warning: Their wine list is so massive, do yourself a favor and ask the waiters to help guide you!

Pizzeria da Franco:
This must-eat recommendation is on behalf of my roommates abroad, and perhaps me, but Franco’s is a great late night spot to grab delicious thin crust pizza and a refreshing Peroni. We lived just above this lively restaurant while living in Sorrento. Franco’s has its own charm, staying open late until 6 A.M., making it the ultimate go-to after a night out. Pairing their pizza with a cold Peroni while soaking up the exciting atmosphere, is an experience in itself. The staff at Franco’s, despite juggling a packed restaurant, are warm and attentive, making you feel like your presence matters.
