Dreaming of Paris? Let Me Help You Fall in Love with the City of Love!
Paris—often referred to as the “City of Love.” For the longest time, I thought that meant it was where you find someone to love. But after my first visit, I realized it’s the city where you fall in love with Paris itself.
Paris is my favorite city in the world. Some might say that’s an overstatement, and others might argue it’s overrated. But trust me, it’s not. You just need to experience it the right way. That’s where I come in! Let me guide you through an itinerary that will make you fall head over heels for Paris, just like I did.
My first solo adventure was to Paris. I spent five unforgettable days exploring, and in that time, I discovered all the must-see spots. Now, I want to share with you the itinerary that changed my life and helped me fall in love with this magical city.
Day One: Arrival & First Impressions
The first day in any overseas destination should be a light day, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t explore! Scoping out the area around you is a great way to familiarize yourself with your surroundings and still see a lot. Take it easy and be sure to rest if you have multiple days of exploring ahead.
Morning:
- Land in Paris (If this is your initial destination, you will be jet-lagged).
- Stop at a nearby boulangerie on the way to your accommodation.
- NAP! (If arriving from an overnight flight, take a 1-2 hour power nap to reset your body clock. Trust me, this is my ultimate travel hack.)
Afternoon/Evening:
- Do some light exploring such as walking around your neighborhood or taking the metro to the Arc de Triomphe or Eiffel Tower. Either one you should walk from one point to another so you can wander the streets like a local! *(I recommend starting at the Arc and walking the Champs Elysee to Grand Palais where you can cross the Alexander III Bridge and end at the Eiffel Tower!)
- Enjoy a late lunch at a café in the heart of Paris or an early dinner so you can rest up for the adventurous days to follow!
Day Two: Spend half the day in Versailles
Versailles, once residency of French royalty, is now open to the public, offering a chance to explore this immense castle filled with artistic masterpieces, stunning gold-plated rooms, and the vast gardens that surround the estate. I had no idea what Versailles was before visiting, and it was such a pleasant surprise. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to experience this magnificent place, and I hope you get the pleasure of visiting as well.
Morning:
- Take a train into Versailles.
- If visiting on Tuesday, Friday, or Sunday (7:30 AM – 2 PM), grab breakfast at the fresh food market near the palace.
Afternoon:
- Book tickets in advance for the Palace of Versailles and its gardens.
- Enjoy lunch in the gardens with your food from the market and explore the sculptures, fountains, and hidden paths.
- Rent a boat on the pond for the ultimate experience!

Evening:
- Relax and explore the neighborhood near your lodging.
- Rest up—tomorrow is a big day!
Day Three: The Ultimate Parisian Adventure
Tie up those laces on your walking shoes because this is a day of adventure! With an early morning start, we wanted to make the most of our day and see as much as possible. I hope this itinerary is helpful and allows you to explore and experience everything you set out to, just like we had the privilege of doing.
Morning:
- Visit Île de la Cité to see the Notre Dame, first stopping by Hôtel de Ville which is just before crossing the seine to the island.

- Explore the 5th Arrondissement, including Saint-Étienne-du-Mont and the Panthéon.
- Enjoy a picnic at Jardin du Luxembourg to relax and unwind.

Afternoon:
- Walk to the Pont des Arts (bridge across the Seine) and continue to the Louvre (enter through the Jardin de l’Infante entrance).
- Explore the Louvre Pyramids and Jardin des Tuileries which is just next to the Louvre.
- Relax by the pond and soak in all of the beauty you saw today in Paris.
Evening:
- Take the metro to Montmartre (M12, Place de la Concorde to Montmartre).
- Explore Montmartre’s charming streets and have dinner.
- Visit Sacré-Cœur, light a candle, and enjoy the view of Paris from the steps.
- Experience the lively atmosphere, live music, and maybe even a sunset over the city.

Day Four: A Different View of Paris
After yesterday’s eventful day, today is all about booking excursions or activities to experience the city from a new perspective. I highly recommend planning an activity while in Paris. Whether it’s going to the top of the Eiffel Tower, taking a Seine River tour, or joining a bike tour, use this day to explore and learn!
Morning:
- Climb the Arc de Triomphe (284 steps) for a breathtaking view of Paris.
- Stroll down the Champs-Élysées, window shop, or explore Élysée Palace (the French White House).

Afternoon:
- Walk along Rue de Rivoli and enjoy a crêpe from Happy Café then digest and relax at Jardin des Tuileries (Best crêpe I had in all of Paris/France).
- Walk to Palais Garnier, which is the Parisian Opera house and take in the stunning architecture. Check to see if you can tour inside or look for shows to attend while there!
- Other options to explore:
- Visit Bastille.
- Relax in Jardin du Palais Royal.
- Treat yourself to macarons at Pierre Hermé.
Evening:
- Take a Seine River tour—it’s a magical way to see Paris from a new perspective.
- Alternatively, explore hidden gems on a bike tour.
- Both the Seine and Bike Tour were so informative and we learned so much about the city
- The bike tour introduced us to hidden gems of Paris such as Jardin du Palais Royal and the best macaroon shop!
Day Five: Museum Day & Farewell to Paris
Morning:
- Sleep in, you deserve it!
- Visit the Louvre (yes, the Mona Lisa is crowded, but the rest of the museum is phenomenal).
Afternoon:
- Lunch at Bistro 65 near Notre Dame, overlooking the Seine.
- Use The Fork app to find great restaurant deals!
- Visit Musée d’Orsay, featuring works by Van Gogh and Manet.
Evening:
- End your Parisian adventure with a picnic at the Eiffel Tower.
- Watch the tower sparkle—it’s the perfect farewell to Paris.

Overall:
Paris is a city that will steal your heart if you experience it the right way. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning for more, this itinerary is designed to help you fall in love with the magic, charm, and timeless beauty of Paris.
I’ve been back 4 times since my first visit and adjusted the itinerary according to other experiences I had in the past. Enjoy what Paris has to offer, and I hope you fall in love with it the same way I did! Au revoir!
