When I first visited Sorrento with my family, we signed up for a pizza-making class, not fully knowing what to expect. To our delight, it turned out to be the highlight of our trip and an experience so special that we still talk about it today.
What made it unforgettable wasn’t just the excitement of making pizza but the warmth and hospitality of the family who hosted us. From the moment they picked us up at our accommodation, we felt like cherished guests rather than tourists.
The drive up to their family-run farm in the hills of Sorrento revealed breathtaking panoramic views that seemed straight out of a postcard. The property itself was a dream: a picturesque house surrounded by animals, a cozy patio, and an abundance of fresh, homemade delights. Everything we enjoyed—meats, cheeses, wine, limoncello, and, of course, the pizza—was made right there on the farm.

One thoughtful touch that stood out was how they encouraged us to bring our phones or cameras. As we rolled out dough and topped our pizzas, they captured candid photos and videos, ensuring we had memories to relive again and again. It’s a small gesture, but one that made the experience feel even more special.
The class was shared with a small group of other travelers, and at the end, we all came together to enjoy our creations family-style around a large communal table. It was a heartwarming way to bond over a shared love of food and the unforgettable day we’d just experienced.

*A special note for anyone with dietary restrictions: my sister and her fiance have severe allergies, and the hosts went above and beyond to accommodate them. This level of care stood out, especially since not every dining experience abroad had been so considerate. In Sorrento, I noticed that most menus clearly labeled allergens. And at Primaluce, they take it even further by ensuring you’re fully in control of what goes on your pizza.
If you’re visiting Sorrento, do yourself a favor and book a class at Primaluce. You’ll leave with a full belly, cherished memories, and perhaps even a newfound appreciation for the magic of Italian cooking.
