The Tuscany region is known for its infamous vineyards and is home to some of the best Italian wine, but don’t mistake that for the only place where you can find delicious, rich wine.
While studying abroad in Sorrento, my parents visited in November. We wondered what other activities we could do with cooler weather approaching and the beach clubs coming to a close.
Well, we were in Italy, surrounded by some of the world’s finest wines, and only a 40-minute train to Vesuvius from Sorrento. The perfect plan? A Vesuvius wine tour.
I would recommend this wine tour to anyone who is in the Sorrento or Naples area. Going into November we were pleased with the weather, the air temperature was perfect and it felt like the perfect Fall activity, similar to Apple Picking, but obviously better.
This was one of the best wine tours I had done during my time abroad and while in Italy.
The vineyard was backdropped with Vesuvius while the vines worked its way up the enormous volcano, which by the way is still active.

What makes the grapes and wine so rich is the soil from Vesuvius when it exploded 18,000 years ago. Now talk about History leaving its mark.
A tour of the Vineyard and facility was included as well as a three-course meal.
When we arrived, we were greeted with a glass of wine and a tour of the vineyard, learning about the history while also getting to pick fresh grapes off the vines to taste the richness. This was something I had never done before at a vineyard, and although crunchy, I knew we were in for a treat with the wine.

The experience was just getting started from here. We walked into the fermentation room and the cellar room with huge wooden barrels full of wine allowing time for aging.
From there we walked to the dining area where we had a wonderful 3-course meal paired with different wines for each plate. It was perfect.

Although the dining area was small, it made a great opportunity for meeting new people and making new friends, while you ate and sipped on wine.
A balcony stretched around the building, with the perfect picture opportunities of Vesuvius and the Vineyard.
Overall, the food, atmosphere, and importantly the wine were all delicious and the experience was amazing. I wish I could have gone back and taken my friends there with me, but I hope you all get to go and enjoy this wonderful experience!
